In August 2008, Hokkaido Gas began soil improvement works for the construction of its Ishikari LNG terminal on Hokkaido, Japan's second-largest island. The terminal received its commissioning cargo from Sakhalin-2 on October 7, 2012; with commercial operations beginning on November 30, 2012.
